FUNDRAISING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

The Churn Project is an independent charity working for the past 17 years in Cirencester and its surrounds. It tackles inequalities across all ages of the community, focusing especially on vulnerable and marginalised families, older people, and unemployed or low-skilled. It has earned a good reputation locally and in its countywide network for providing excellent services achieving outstanding outcomes.

JOB PURPOSE:

A pivotal role within The Churn team raising funds through grant applications to trusts and foundations and other sources, including individual donors and local businesses. Working with the CEO and trustees to develop and implement a fundraising strategy. Leading on external communications for publicity and awareness-raising purposes.

MAIN DUTIES:

FUNDRAISING

• Development and implementation of a fundraising strategy. • Increasing income through researching and targeting charitable trusts / other local donors. • Bid writing, keeping records of all research and stages of each bid. • Report writing • Record keeping

COMMUNICATIONS

• Media liaison – to include press releases, radio etc for all Churn services • News sheet – collate articles; send out deadlines / other info; liaise with designer • Publicity materials including leaflets etc for all Churn services. • Manage social media platforms (FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn etc)

CHURN TEAM

• Work as part of the Churn Project team, attending meetings where appropriate. • Report to Churn CEO & trustees on progress when requested

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

• Proven experience of successful charity fundraising and bid- writing. • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal • Good IT skills & ability to use Word & Excel • Experience of producing publicity materials – newsletters, leaflets etc • Experience of managing social media platforms • Deadlines & outcome focused • Good organisational and time management skills • Experience of managing a team (volunteers) • Self-motivated with the ability to work on own and as part of a team

HOURS: 20 hours per week SALARY: £28,860 (pro rata: £15 per hour) ANNUAL LEAVE: 112 hours per annum PENSION: Auto enrolment pension in place.
